Hiking vacation in Valles The summer experience for nature lovers

In the summertime, countless idyllic hiking trails in and around Vals are waiting for you to venture forth – to indulge in hiking, mountainclimbing, Nordic Walking, ormountainbiking.

One special highlight is a trip to South Tyrol’s most-beautiful alpine meadow– the Fane Alm. Approx. 5 km from Vals / church, it can be reached by car by taking a narrow road. The Fane Alm is the ideal destination for family outings. There’s also a shuttlebus that can take you all the way up to the parking lot (just in front of the Almdorf Fane).

It’s also possible to reach the Fane Alm on foot in about an hour via the so-called “Milk Trail.” Along the trail, hikers can learn many interesting facts about the dairy sector and milk cows in South Tyrol.

There are plenty of charming alpine huts where you can stop for refreshments – and sample a variety of South Tyrolean delicacies. In the summer, this is also where the celebrated Milk Festival is held.

The Fane Alm is also the ideal starting-point for numerous worthwhile hikes affording fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. For example, one can journey to theBrixner Hut (2,307 meters above sea-level), the Wurmaulspitz (3,022 meters), the Wilden Lake (2,532 meters), and on to the Wilden Kreuzspitze (3,132 meters) – the highest summit in the vicinity.

Combine your hiking holiday in Valles with long bike tours or mountain bike excursions. And if you wish to take it easy, simply choose a tour on the e-bike. A bicycle rental Is available in the main town of Rio di Pusteria. The Valles Valley is a paradise for mountain bikers. Get to know our beautiful region on an alpine hut tour, for example to the lodge Anratterhütte and of course to the Fane Alm. Many of our huts and lodges are open to the public and invite you to bike trips with panoramic views and South Tyrolean delicacies all summer long. After an exciting day in the mountains, you can refresh yourself in the invigorating waters of the nearby swimming centers of the Mühlbach outdoor swimming pool, the Alpinpool in Meransen / Maranza, the Acquarena in Brixen, or at the bathing lakes of Lake Vahrner and Issinger Pond.
