The alpine village of Vals is situated in the middle of the Gitschberg Joch Valley ski area, where the ski slopes generally extend up to the front doors of most of the lodgings. Short distances to the slopes, uncomplicated access, and a lack of crowds are among the many factors that make Vals the most family-friendly ski area of Italy.

You can begin your exciting day of skiing right from the Residence Tauber, which is a mere 50 meters away from the slopes!

And when you come back after an exciting day on the slopes, you may leave your ski boots in our ski room with boot dryer so that they are perfectly ready the next day. Beginners and those whose skiing skills are a little “rusty” can use a ski lift, an aerial tram, and a children’s park on the practice slopes down in the village. At the same time,practiced skiers can make use of three additional lifts, including a modern 8-seat aerial tram – the “Schillingbahn” – which whisks skiers away to the mountain station.

Modern aerial lifts allow winter sports enthusiasts of all ages to attain regions at altitudes of 1,300 to 2,500 meters above sea-level, where 44 km of well-groomed slopes withguaranteed snow are there for you to enjoy. A recently expanded course leads to thevalley and directly into the village of Vals.

Many winter vacationers make breathtaking snowshoe hikes to the well-known “Stoanamandl Kreuz” (2,260 meters above sea-level). Once there, adventurers can soak up the superb atmosphere at various different alpine huts and marvel at the stunning view.

Cozy, atmospheric alpine huts are strung along the slopes. There, you can indulge yourself and enjoy authentic South Tyrolean dishes and delicious wines. Perfect places tostop in and refresh yourself.

 You may also enhance your winter holiday in Valles and Maranza with an exuberant toboggan tour for the entire family. Our holiday region offers you several natural toboggan runs, of which the one at the Fane Alm (1.3 km) is perhaps the most beautiful. There are four more toboggan runs in Maranza. From the lodge Moserhütte in the Altafossa Valley you may descend 5 km into the valley – the Brimi WinterRun that starts from the Gitschberg mountain station is the longest in our region (6.75 km).

And if you parents would like to “get away” for a few hours by yourselves – at the Gitschberg Joch Valley, your kids can go to the “Kinderland” for plenty of fun, games, andentertainment:
